A review of the Queen Mary Hotel in Southern California
If you are looking for a unique hotel in Southern California staying on the Queen Mary is a great option. The old ship is tied up at the port in Long Beach, California. Guests stay in the old staterooms and are able to walk around the common areas of the boat. It feels like a step back in time.
Guests can go on one of the tours of the ship where they take you down into the engine rooms and show you different areas on the ship. Guests can also go up to the bridge of the ship for great views of Long Beach and the port. You can also enjoy the sunshine as you walk around the ships top deck.
The rooms are simple, but comfortable and despite being a ship all come with their own bathroom. The standard rooms range from about $175-200 a night depending on how many beds and space you want. They do have a variety of suites including a mini suite that is aabout $225 a night normally and a full suite for about $475. Even the standard rooms are more spacious than you might think for an old ship. The ship has all the standard amenities of a regular hotel, minus a swimming pool, but there is a fitness room, gift shop, and restaurants. There are several meal options on board including both casual and fine ding as well as an old style cocktail bar.
I would totally recommend staying on the Queen Mary, it is such an interesting historical hotel, that provides you with a true experience not just a bed to sleep in.
